Yuki’s Icy Interruption
1st level conjuration
Casting Time: 1 reaction
Range: 30 feet
Components: V, S, M (vial of water)
Duration: Instantaneous (can only be used when you or somebody in your party is being attacked)
You summon a sheet of clear ice at an area in view. The ice is up to 1 foot in thickness, at least 2 by 2 feet wide and no larger than 15 square feet in total. If any part of the wall is obstructed when summoned, it breaks apart immediately, leaving behind a puddle of water appropriate to the size of the summoned wall.
The sheet of ice has 0 AC and 1d6 + proficiency hit points.
If the hit points when summoned are 4 or greater: The sheet of ice is solid. If the incoming attack would have hit the original target, the sheet takes the damage instead. If it deals more damage than the sheet of ice has hp, the sheet is destroyed and the remaining damage will be dealt to the original target.
If the hit points when summoned are 3 or less: You summon a thin wall of opaque, cloudy ice that completely obscures whatever is behind it but breaks apart on impact regardless of the amount of damage. If the incoming attack would have hit the original target, the sheet is destroyed and crumbles into a bit of icy dust. The target that was shielded gets to do another saving throw against the incoming attack, this time with advantage.
The sheet lasts until its hp run out or until the beginning of your next turn, whichever comes first. If the sheet gets in contact with fire or takes fire damage of any kind, it immediately evaporates into a cloud of fog that will obscure the area around the wall within a radius of 5 feet until your next turn. Any attacks, including the one that caused the sheet to evaporate will go through and hit according to their original attack and damage rolls.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the sheet’s HP increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 1st.
